Part-Time CLE Teacher (Grades 7-10)

PJGA is a growing interdenominational K to Grade 12 Christian school in the beautiful Comox Valley, British Columbia. We are committed to providing a purposeful and well-planned academic curriculum in which reading, writing, and mathematics are emphasized. Our teachers are passionate about learning and promote a joyful, kind, and gracious classroom environment.

We are seeking an incredibly flexible, patient, and highly organized certified teacher to instruct Career Life Education (CLE) across Grades 7, 8, 9, and 10. Please note that this is not a continuous block position. The successful candidate must be comfortable with a heavily fractured schedule featuring significant unpaid gaps throughout the school day, requiring multiple trips to the campus or extended periods of unpaid downtime on-site.

Compensation: Prorated annual salary of $12,650 based on 0.23 FTE.
Note: This is a salaried contract position, not an hourly wage. No additional daily reporting minimums, split-shift premiums, or mileage allowances apply.

Schedule Breakdown (Mandatory Hours)

Applicants must be available for the exact, non-negotiable time slots below. Gaps between these hours are unpaid, and no additional hours or substitute work are guaranteed to fill the spaces.

  • Mondays: 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM (CLE 7)
  • Tuesdays: No CLE classes.
  • Wednesdays: 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM (CLE 9) AND 10:05 AM – 11:05 AM (CLE 8) AND 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM (CLE 7) (Note: 3-hour unpaid gap in the middle of the day)
  • Thursdays: 10:05 AM – 11:05 AM (CLE 10) AND 12:55 PM – 1:55 PM (CLE 10) (Note: 2-hour unpaid gap during the lunch/elective block)
  • Fridays: 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM (CLE 9) AND 10:05 AM – 11:05 AM (CLE 8)
  • Contractual Constraint: This schedule is fixed and will not be consolidated into consecutive blocks. Candidates must be available for these exact intervals. There is zero opportunity for contract expansion or timetable adjustments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver distinct Career Life Education curricula for four different grade levels (7, 8, 9, and 10) for just 1 to 2 hours of instructional time per grade per week.
  • Manage rapid transitions into the classroom environment for isolated single-hour blocks.
  • Maintain accurate grading, assessment, and reporting for four separate class cohorts despite minimal weekly face-to-face contact time.
  • Strong time-management skills to navigate a daily "split-shift" routine without losing track of distinct course tracks

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Willingness to accept a micro-fractional contract (approx. 7 hours total per week) spread inconveniently across all five instructional days.
  • Extensive experience prepping for multiple grade streams simultaneously.
  • Local residency or an incredibly short commute is highly recommended, as the daily hours are too short to justify a standard commute.
  • Must be a committed, church-attending Christian
  • Must be a BC-certified teacher for the 2026-2027 school year
  • Willing to work collaboratively, planning, teaching, and assessing within a team-based environment
  • Experience in teaching primary and intermediate grades would be an asset
  • Committed to and practicing differentiated instruction and Universal Design for Learning strategies
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding and use of formative and summative assessments
  • Familiar with Google Workspace (i.e. Google Classroom) and using technology
  • Interest in assisting with extra-curricular programs and involvement in school life would be an asset
  • Able to integrate a biblical worldview into all lessons
  • Demonstrates strong classroom management skills

Candidates interested in applying for this position are invited to please send:

  • A current résumé with contact info of three professional references (one of whom should be the minister/pastor of the Christian church you presently attend)
  • A copy of your current and valid BC Teaching Certificate
  • A statement of your Christian faith/personal testimony.

Please send all required application documents by email to careers@gaglardiacademy.ca
