Position Overview:
We are looking for a warm, caring, and energetic Part-Time Kindergarten Teacher to join our team in a one or two-day-a-week role. This teacher will create a joyful and safe learning environment where young children can explore, discover, and grow academically, socially, and spiritually. The ideal candidate is passionate about early childhood education and committed to integrating Christian values into daily learning experiences.

What You’ll Do:

Nurturing Classroom & Student Growth:

  • Create a positive, playful, and Christ-centred classroom where every child feels valued and encouraged.
  • Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate lessons that support literacy, numeracy, creativity, and social-emotional growth.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of all learners, including those requiring additional support.

Partnership & Collaboration:

  • Build strong, supportive relationships with students, families, classroom assistants, and colleagues.
  • Communicate regularly with parents to celebrate successes, provide updates, and partner in each child’s learning journey.
  • Collaborate with fellow teachers to enrich the Kindergarten experience and integrate school-wide initiatives.

Professional Growth & Community Life:

  • Participate in professional development to stay current with best practices in early childhood education and Christ-centred pedagogy.
  • Model Christian values and help students experience faith in action through daily interactions.
  • Engage in school community life through events, assemblies, and special projects.

Qualifications:

  • Valid BC Teaching Certificate with Early Childhood or Kindergarten designation (required).
  • Experience teaching Kindergarten or early primary grades.
  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices, play-based learning, and differentiated instruction.
  • Strong classroom management, organizational, and communication skills.
  • A heart for Christ-centred education and the ability to integrate faith into learning experiences.

Preferred:

  • Experience in a Christian independent school setting.
  • Familiarity with inquiry-based learning, emergent literacy, and numeracy strategies.
  • Training in Restorative Practices or Positive Behaviour Support.
