Classroom Guidelines

Behaviour Expectations

The band room is a different kind of classroom in which specific rules must be followed to keep everyone safe and learning. I will go over the rules with the students during the first week of school. If a student decides not to follow the rules, I will talk with them individually. If there is another incident, he/she will be sent out in the hallway for some time to think about their actions, and I will contact you. If there is a third incident, there will be a visit with the principal and another contact with you. The progression of the whole group is important to everyone therefore; interruptions can make the flow of learning difficult.

Classroom Rules:

1. When you arrive in the band room, get your equipment and music folder and sit in your ASSIGNED seat.
2. When the director is at the podium, you do not talk. Bring a cooperative and positive attitude to each class.
3. DO NOT touch another student’s instrument or belongings. DO NOT play any instruments that do not belong to you.
4. Be respectful of the room and the people in it.
5. No cell phones or electronic devices out at any time. They should be on silent and put away during class.
6. No food or drink allowed in the band room during class time (water bottle OK).
7. Put your music folder and instrument in the proper storage area after class.
8. Have FUN!!
