As the saying goes, “Many hands make light work,” and boy isn’t that true! Below are a few of the volunteer opportunities that we have available. Please look them over and email the contact person via the link provided. And thanks in advance for signing up!
(Reminder: You will need to have a Criminal Record Check done in order to assist with any of these opportunities. See sidebar.)
Classroom helper volunteers may assist the classroom teacher with preparation for classroom learning, lead a guided reading group, drive for field trips or anything else that the teacher might need. Possibilities are endless really. Please click on the link below to contact the classroom teacher of your child for more information on how to become a classroom helper.
Crosswalk/Parking Safety volunteers are vital for the safety of our children and are needed for both morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up each day of the week. For more information and to volunteer, please click the link below.
Buildings and grounds that get used on a daily basis need routine maintenance and our school is no exception. To keep our school up and running, and looking fresh and clean, we need maintenance volunteers for both the building and grounds. If you are able to paint, do carpentry or handyman work, mow lawns or weed gardens, we need you! For more information, please click on the link below.
Hot lunch volunteers are needed to put together the Friday lunches and deliver them to the appropriate classes, as well as organize the lunches that will be picked up by high school students. For more information, please contact the hot lunch coordinator by clicking the link below.
Each year, students in grade 6 and 9 receive the appropriate immunization for these grades. We need a couple of parent volunteer to collect the students from their classrooms and then keep an eye on them in case they feel faint afterward. This year, immunizations will be given on Nov. 1st and May 1st. from 1:00-3:00 pm. To sign-up for this opportunity, please contact Tami Dyble by clicking the link below.
Jobs in the library include re-shelving books, covering new books with Mactac, and refiling books/bookshelf clean-up at the end of the school year. If you are interested in helping in the library, please contact Mary Johnson by clicking the link below.
Got a couple of hours to kill and would like something to do? We’ve always got a few odd jobs that need to be done such as:
Our Parent Advisory Council (PAC) hosts many events throughout the school year and raises money for classrooms, extracurricular activities and transportation costs. In order to do all this, PAC needs your ideas, talents, and hands! For more information about PAC, including the fundraising and hospitality committees, please contact Jane Montgomery by clicking the link below.
Each year we need a few volunteers to assist our photographer in getting student photos done. Duties include collecting students from classrooms, making sure their uniform and hair is in order, and returning them to their classroom. To volunteer, please contact Tami Dyble by clicking the link below.
For student safety, we need Recess Supervisors to walk around the school grounds during morning and lunch recesses. The presence of supervisors ensures that game rules are being followed, children are playing safely on playground equipment, and unacceptable behaviours are managed. If you are able to help in this area, please contact the school office by clicking the link below.
Usually, our swimming program runs for Grade 5 and 6 students in Sep-Oct, Grade 3 and 4 students from January-March and Grade 1 and 2 students from April-May. However, this year it is paused due to COVID-19. When it is safe to start the program again, we'll let you know.
If and when we can start, we will need parent volunteers to supervise in changing rooms, assist children who need help dressing, and collect any items that are left behind and give to the supervising teachers. If you are able to volunteer or need more information, please contact Tami Dyble at 250-339-1200 or by clicking the link below.
Every year our school sends its graduating students on a life-changing missions trip to Tanzania and every year we need help fundraising to help keep costs affordable for our students. If you have fundraising ideas and/or can help with the many fundraising activities our students do throughout the year, please contact the coordinator by clicking the link below.
