Saturday, Jan 8, is a bonus reading day for all K-7 students who are part of the Reading Club. For every 15 minutes you read, you can record it on your daily reading sheet! Woot.

School fully reopens on Monday, January 10, for all students and is a formal uniform day! Please remember the staggered school entry times are K-6 at 8:30 am and Gr 7-12 at 8:40 am. Student assigned entrances are as follows: K - Own door (south entrance); Gr 1 - East door; Gr 1/2, 3, 3/4 - Undercovered area; Gr 5-6 - Main entrance; Gr 7-12 - Main entrance.

Before you leave for school, please remember to complete a daily health check to make sure you're child's "good-to-go" for attending school. It's made easier with the BC COVID-19 Thrive app for daily health checks. You can download the app from this website: https://bc.thrive.health. 

Our grade 12s' Bottle Drive for Tanzania is happening all next week from Jan 10-14. Bring in your bottles and other beverage recyclables and place them in the undercover area during student drop-off and pick-up times. Thanks for supporting our grads!

It's Toonies for Toques this Tuesday, Jan 11! For a $2 donation to Tanzania missions, you can wear your favourite toque all day at school. Sounds like a good day!

The Semester Break Winter Fun Day information package is coming your way on Monday, Jan 10. It will include the Mount Washington forms, waivers, and permission forms that need to be filled out, as well as payment info (plus instructions for filling out a waiver for WIP) for all activities. 

The due date for these forms is Thursday, Jan 13, including payment. Please complete and return them to the school promptly(!) so we can fulfil our deadlines for registration at the mountain and Courtenay activities.

Please note there is NO parking in the drop-off and pick-up zone in front of the school. If you need to park, please use the street.

Also, NO dogs are allowed on school property during drop-off and pick-up times as well. If you must bring your pooch, please leave them in your vehicle during drop-off/pick-up times.

Finally, please remember that 25 volunteers hours are required to be fulfilled before the end of May 2022. For a list of volunteer opportunities available, email the office at office@gaglardiacademy.ca.

Our new K-3 playground will be dropped off at the school on Friday, Jan 14, and installation will commence on the weekend. In order for everything to go smoothly and on time, we need volunteers to help both days, Jan 15-16, from 9:00 am until dark, rain or shine. Please pray for shine! If you can only attend part of the day, that's no problem, just please give what time you can. Tools are not necessary but if you have a torque wrench with 3/8-1/2" fittings, you can bring them.  

To volunteer, please contact Mrs Mulgrew at accounts@gaglardiacademy.ca. In order to help with the install, Green Roots Play Equipment Inc. requires every volunteer to sign their waiver form which will be sent via email closer to the date.  

Let's all pull together and get this done. Many hands make light work! And remember, all hours assisting with this project go toward fulfilling the 25 volunteer hours necessary for this school year!

If you have a child entering Kindergarten in September 2022 (or you have friends and family who do!), this is a perfect opportunity for you and your child to see what Kindergarten at PJGA is all about. The 12:30-1:15 pm session is free of charge and includes various educational activities, a snack for the participant, plus a Get-Ready-for-Kindergarten kit to take home. Just before the Christmas holidays, Mr Collin and his band students put on a concert which was recorded to be watched at a later date. That later date is now! So pop the corn and settle in to enjoy the performances of your children. They did such a terrific job!
