Just some basic "housekeeping" before we begin:

The weather is topsy-turvy these days so dress your elementary-aged children appropriately. Boots and raincoats for rainy days will keep them warm and cosy. Thanks!

Also, please do not make U-turns in front of the school during drop-off and pick-up times. These times are the busiest of the day and U-turns are very unsafe. An accident was narrowly avoided this week and since we do not want anyone to get hurt, help us keep our school zone safe. STOP doing U-turns, please and thank you!

Just today, the BC Ministry of Education and our PHO issued another Covid update stating that starting Monday, Oct 4, all students (K-12) are required to wear masks inside the school building including while sitting at their desks. Accordingly, we ask that you send a couple of masks with your child daily (especially if they're disposable ones) since they can become unusable after eating or playing (unfortunately, some break!), and some get misplaced as well. Thank you for your help.

The Grade 8 boys volleyball team has a game on Monday, Oct 4, at Highland from 3:30-5:00 pm. Please note, if you plan to attend, you'll need to sign in, mask up and stay distant. 

(There is no game for Grade 8 girls volleyball on Oct 4.)

PS. If you're on a team, make sure to bring your permission forms back to the school by Monday!

Grade 7-9 students will be participating in a Student Online Safety session on Tuesday, Oct. 5, from 9:00-10:00 am. The session will cover digital citizenship, criminal consequences of cyberbullying and social media platforms. Excellent.

Connect Night is on Tuesday, Oct 5, from 6:00-7:30 pm. This is a great night to connect with other families as well as meet your child's teachers (grades 1-12 only; families of kindergarten students already met with their teacher). You'll also get to hear about new things happening at the school and find places where you can connect and get involved like the Parent Advisory Council (PAC), and volunteering in classes and/or on field trips. Plus much more!

If you're a new family or one who has been at Gaglardi for years, please come out and make new connections with your school community.

Students and staff who missed the first photo day or wish to have a retake of their school photo may do so Thursday, Oct 7. Please inform the office if you plan to participate. Students must wear their formal uniform and those getting a retake must bring their photo package from the previous photo session with them to the sitting. 

If you've ordered from PAC's pizza fundraiser, you'll want to know that pizza pick-up time is on Thursday, Oct 7, between 2:30-3:30 pm in the undercover area. Yum, yum. :)

There is Pro-D Day on Friday, Oct 8 and is a non-instructional day for students. Enjoy your day off!

Last week, the grade 10-12 students of Gaglardi Academy set aside their academic studies to spend some time building community amongst themselves and serving the Comox Valley community. On Thursday, students and teachers spent the day at Selah Campsite, participating in a number of fun team-building activities, and getting to know each other as they played games and hung out around the fire.
