Jessica Curtis
Hello, my name is Jessica Curtis, and I will be joining Galgardi Academy primarily as their new preschool director at Little Sprouts Christian Preschool. Over the last three years, I have had the privilege of calling the Comox Valley home and working as an Early Childhood Educator Assistant (ECEA) as I obtained my Early Childhood Educator Certificate (ECE) in June 2021. I have also had the joy and privilege over the last two years of being the Children’s Ministry Director at Northgate Church. During my time as Children’s Ministry Director, I have also continued to pursue my education through seminary courses and/or short courses that are offered by the Foursquare Church. Prior to moving back to the Comox Valley in 2020, I lived, attended school, and worked in Victoria for about five years. While living in Victoria, I attended and obtained my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with an emphasis on mental health and well-being. I was also employed as the Children’s Ministry Director for Encounter Church in Victoria for two years. Upon graduating, I worked as an educational assistant in a private arts-based school for a year and a half in a grade 3/4/5 split classroom. After that, I started working in a daycare where the children were ages 3 to 5 years old, and it was here that I discovered my love for this age group. I love watching children learn and grow alongside their families. When I am not working with children, I like to spend time reading, journaling, or doing something creative. I also enjoy going for walks in nature with my ten-year-old sheltie, named Belle, and trying new things like bouldering. Teaching preschool is my jam, and the fact I can do so while incorporating biblical truths has me excited for the next school year. I am looking forward to the new adventures ahead and getting to meet you. See you soon. |

Alex du Boulay
My name is Alex du Boulay, and my journey begins in London, Ontario. My educational journey led me to Western University, where I completed a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, followed by a Bachelor of Education and a Masters of Professional Education in Teaching Children with Exceptionalities. While studying, I had the opportunity to be part of the varsity golf team at Western University for three years, where I developed my skills and learned valuable lessons in teamwork and perseverance. Beyond academics and athletics, my true passion lies in the outdoors. I find great joy in living a healthy and active lifestyle, spending time in nature, and soaking up the sun. Whether it's going on hikes, running, or playing golf, these activities provide me with a sense of serenity and fulfilment. In my spare time, you'll often find me immersed in a good book, exploring the pages of different stories and ideas. It's a personal hobby that helps broaden my perspectives and fuel my curiosity. With a blend of educational achievements, athletic experiences, and a love for the natural world, I strive to make a positive impact, whether through teaching or simply sharing my enthusiasm for active living. |

Donna Frowen
Hello, I'm Donna Frowen. My hometown is Ottawa, Ontario, where I grew up with an older brother and sister. As a family, we spent many summers visiting family and friends in Nova Scotia, where I was born and where my parents are from. I met my husband, Darrell, in Ottawa, and a year and six months later we were married. I travelled with him for the next 29 years as a military wife. As my husband served in the military for 36 years, we have travelled across Canada and had many homes in wonderful Canadian towns. I have lived and taught in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan; Greenwood, Nova Scotia; Trenton, Ontario; Strathmore, Alberta; and now, finally, in our last posting, Comox, British Columbia. I have a BSc from Ottawa University and took my teaching degree at the University of Regina. My two wonderful children, Jason (28) and Victoria (22), are a joy in my heart. I have lived here in Comox since 2017, and I have found it a beautiful, peaceful, and friendly place to live. I am excited to join the staff at Phil & Jennie Gaglardi Academy and look forward to meeting my class, their families, and the rest of the school community in the fall. |
