Okay, it sure is getting busy around here! This also means that today's WAAG is a long one BUT so full of important information, you'll definitely want to read it all the way to the end. First, get settled in your comfy chair though and then get reading! 

Please remember to contact the office whenever you know your child will be absent or late. This is very important since we need to know at all times who is in the school building. It's all about child safety! 

Speaking of child safety, if your child RIDES THE BUS, the school office also needs to know of any changes in your child's bus riding schedule. Parents, please phone the office at 250-339-1200 as soon as you know of the change. 

If your child wants to use their bike, skateboard, pogo stick, or scooter on school property, please remind them that they must wear a helmet. Also, the school needs parental consent for these activities so please submit a completed permission form if you haven't yet done so. Click Here to access the form. 

Finally, for the Track & Field season, we need a volunteer to bring in a load of sand for our long-jump pit and to redefine the edging of the pit. This could be you! Contact the office at 250-339-1200 to sign-up for this incredible volunteer opportunity!

Please note that all volunteer hours for this year need to be completed by May 31, 2023. 

Classroom photos of students and staff will be taken on Monday, April 17, by LifeTouch. Please make your child is dressed in their formal uniform before they come to school. 

Grade 1 students visit the Comox Fire Hall on Monday, April 17, from 10:00-11:15 AM. 

Paramedics and an ambulance will be visiting the school on Wednesday, April 19. Grades K-3 will be participating. 

It's not too late to join us for Alpha at Gaglardi and learn about the faith we teach. Classes will be held on Tuesdays starting April 18, from 6:30-8:00 pm. To sign up, click the link below. Grade 11 students and parents meet on Tuesday, April 18, at 5:30 PM in Room 109 to discuss fundraising for the 2024 Tanzania trip.

Grade 9 students and their parents meet on Wednesday, April 19, at 6:00 PM in Room 109 to discuss the Grad program which starts in Grade 10.

Abbotsford Christian School is visiting PJGA and students and staff get to enjoy a concert band performance from their students. It all happens on Thursday afternoon, April 20, at 2:00 pm in the gym.

Saturday, April 22, is Earth Day so we're celebrating the day before on Friday, April 21! Students will plant seeds once again outside the garden gate at lunchtime. Big THANKS to the Comox Valley Seed Savers for donating seeds to us!

Also, our school will be hosting a small bee nest in the school garden. This is part of a research project for the University of Guelf - they will be collecting the boxes after the summer and analyzing the DNA of the bees who used the box! Wow. That's fantastic!

The Art Card samples have arrived! Please be on the lookout for the sample cards made by your creative children. They will probably be in your child's backpack. The instructions are printed inside the cards and the online ordering deadline is April 24. Don't miss out! The cards are of very good quality and professional looking if I do say so myself. :)

Good news! If you haven't yet ordered your Gaglardi Arrows swag, you've got more time to do so! The Gaglardi Swag ordering deadline has been extended until 11:59 PM on Sunday, April 16. To purchase Gaglardi Arrows swag that students can wear on game days and other school spirit days, click the link below. Make sure to pay special attention to sizing before placing your order.

Orders will be available for pick-up at the school in May.

Papa Murphy’s Take & Bake Pizza event is back! Notices and order forms have been sent home today, April 14. Ordering starts immediately and the ordering deadline is Friday, April 21. Please note that Papa Murphy's has had to change the size from the family size, that we have had previously, to a large pizza. (There are new owners and costs have unsurprisingly gone up.)

This week, we had the first weigh-in for the Chores for Change Challenge! And the container with the most change was...(drum roll)...the Girls with 6lbs 5oz worth of change! The Boys' change container weighed in at 3lbs 1oz. The next weigh-in happens next Wednesday; it's still early in the Challenge and anything can happen! Kids, do some chores and get some change to fill up your container! May 1st is the final weigh and count!
