Welcome to the WAAG!
Hello and welcome to the very first WAAG (Week at a Glance) of the 2022-2023 school year! Hurrah. There's a lot of information to cover and it's all important, so scroll AND read all the way to the end. Thanks! BTW, if ever you notice you've stopped receiving emails from the school, please email communications@gaglardiacademy.ca so we can fix the issue and get you back on track receiving all school correspondence. And without further adieu, let's get started... |
Student Photos
It's picture time! Students and staff will have their photos taken on Friday, Sep. 9, with LifeTouch starting at 8:45 am. Please make sure your student wears their formal uniform and that it's photo-friendly, ie. clean, pressed, and looking smart! :) By the way, we need one more parent volunteer to help with this activity. If you are available all day on Sept 9 and would like to sign-up, please contact Mrs Hidber by phoning 250-339-1200 or emailing office@gaglardiacademy.ca. This great way to start getting those volunteer hours completed. Woot. |
Speaking of volunteering...
As you know, families enrolled at PJGA (that's you!) are required to fulfil 25 volunteer hours by May 31 of the 2022-23 school year. Fortunately, volunteer opportunities abound! We need your help with activities such as photo days, playground supervision, parking/traffic supervision, classroom helpers, library, and more! In order to do so though, you'll need to fill out a volunteer form and get your Criminal Record Check (CRC). And FYI, every year you'll need to redo your CRC every year. Click the link below for more information and to start the process. Oh, and to view volunteering opportunities, you can visit that page on our website by clicking HERE. One more thing. When you volunteer, you'll need to keep track of your hours which is made easier by logging them onto the Volunteer Hours Tracking form located on our website. Every time you log hours, you'll receive an email confirming your entry. Just file these emails, add up the hours periodically, and when you've reached 25 - you're done! Hey, nice job! Click Here to access the form and bookmark it for future visits! For more infomation visit:

Permission Form Pleasantries
With the start of a new school year comes the need for permission forms. You know, like if your high school student wants to go off-campus at lunchtime or will be picking up a younger sibling from their class after school or if you want friends or family to pick up your K-6 children. If your child wants to ride their scooter, pogo-stick and skateboard on campus or they take daily medication and you want to give permission for staff to administer it. These are all things that require completed permission forms. Fortunately, if any of the above applies to you, we have a handy-dandy website where you can fill out these forms online and email OR download, print, complete and then return to the school office. Easy? You bet! Just click the link below. For more infomation visit: https://www.pjgaglardiacademy.ca/parent-portal/parent-resources/pages/permission-forms

We have buses!
Hurray! As you probably know we have two new buses which will be so helpful in getting out-of-town students to school as well as using on field trips. However, this also means that the buses will need a place in front of the school to unload/load the students. We ask that you DO NOT PARK along the sidewalk in between the entry and exit driveways of the Drop-off/Pick-up zone from 8:15-8:45 am and 2:30-3:05 pm. See the photo below for more details and on school days, watch for the orange safety cones! |
A refresher on our school traffic systemNote the addition of the Bus Zone! Hey, fans of traffic systems that work well! It's a new school year and we have an official system in place for safe student drop-off and pick-up, as well as parking. However, in order for the system to run smoothly, everyone needs to follow these super-duper important rules. They are as follows:
To drop-off your child ONLY:
To park and drop off your child ONLY (which you need to do if you have children in grades K-3): ... For more infomation visit: http://pjgaglardiacademy.ca/news/a-refresher-on-our-school-traffic-system

PAC Meeting coming up!
Mark your calendars! The first PAC meeting of the new school year is on Tuesday, Sep. 13, at 6:30 pm in the school chapel. It'd be great if you could attend each monthly meeting and volunteer your time at one of the many PAC-hosted activities that happen throughout the year. The PAC needs your input and, hey, it's nice to be needed! Plus, for each PAC meeting you attend, you receive 1 hour that goes toward completing your volunteer hours for the year. PAC meetings are held every second Tuesday of the month unless otherwise stated. If you have any questions, contact Kelly Hiller, PAC President: kmahiller@gmail.com.
