10th Annual Academy Awards 2022!
The Phil and Jennie Gaglardi Academy Awards ceremony is on June 28 at Northgate Church, 1640 Burgess Road in Courtenay. This is a formal event! Students are to dress in formal attire such as their favourite party dress/gown or a suit they wore to a wedding. (Ie. Graduation students usually wear the gowns or suits they wore to their graduation.) The more elegant the attire, the better! OR students may opt to wear their formal uniform. Parents, you are welcome to dress up too! Doors open at 5:35 pm for you to bring your children, find a seat and take your photo at the Photo Booth. Please be sure to arrive by 5:50 pm at the latest. Students will walk down the red carpet into the auditorium at 6:00 pm SHARP and will need time to get organized with their class before then. It's a grand opening to the ceremony and they will be disappointed if they miss it. :) We also will have the ceremony live-streamed for those who can't attend in person. Watch for an email with the link! For more infomation visit: http://pjgaglardiacademy.ca/events/academy-awards-2022/2022-06-28 |

Long-awaited Chess Club enjoyed by students
Inspired by two passionate primary students, an informal chess club ran on two Fridays this June. Sadly, there were too many fun activities planned for the end of the year that the friendly competition had to conclude and thus we have no king or queen of chess to announce. But we do have kids keen to form a chess club next year! Thanks go out to Grade 7 student, Ben Hiller, for supporting our students and providing some teaching tips to the players.
